- features article analysis.

THE OBSERVER MUSIC MAGAZINE.

This article is from inside a music magazine called ‘THE OBSERVER’. The colours used in this article are mainly green white and black. This article is grabbing the eyes of a female and male attention, mainly teenagers. The colours used, is a stereotype for dull and boring readers. The title has been written in black italics font. This is article is probably around 70% information and writing, and 30% diagrams. The background on this article is white and plain, this makes the article look plain and boring. The layout of this article is placed with the photograph in the middle of the page. And the writting and information located around the photograph. I think that is layout is a very effective way to present an article because it makes it more exciting to read. Also this way it will grap the attention of young male and females. The reason for this, is because the photograph in this article is of a famous band called 'THE GORILAZ', this band is well known to the target audience, male and female teenagers.

 RAP UP.

This article is from a music magazine 'RAP UP'. Rap Up, is a female teenage magazine. By looking at this article the target audience is for young women and female teenagers. The reason for this is because the models in this photograph are all females and dressed very fashionable. Many younger girls will look up to this models maybe even idiolize them. The colours used in this article are bright pink and pale blue. Those two colours are representing the females. The layout of this articlehas the picture at the top with the writting around and underneath it. This article is 30% pictures and 70% writting and information. The writting and information on this article has been written in colums. The subheadings, for example, 'POP QUIZ' has been written in bright pink and capital letters. This is very eye catching to the audience.

- contents page analysis.

VIBE.

This content page is out of a ‘VIBE’ music magazine. The title of this content page is big and bold. The title has also been placed so it’s difficult to read. For example ‘CO NTEN TS’. The subtitles in this content page have been written in a small bold black font. The information underneath the subtitle is really hard to read, because it’s in a small black font. The model in this content page is there to attract male. The reason for this is because; the model is lying down on her back with her legs up. Also the model is wearing a really short dress and high heels. The stereotype for this model is most appealing to male audiences. The colours in this content page are dull and plain colours. For example, the background is really pale, the title is white and the models clothing is very pale and light. Also the models legs is a symbol of the capital ‘V’ in the background which has been placed in the top left corner, written in white. If you look closely her legs are doing the same shape as the ‘V’.

VIBE.

This is a contents page used in ‘VIBE’ magazine. The title used it white and bold, and easy to read. However, the word ‘CONTENTS’ has been written in a more difficult way to read. The target audience for this content page is male teenagers. You can tell this by the model on the page. The model is someone who every teenager recognizes and someone who teenagers idolize. The colour on this page is mainly red, black and white. The colours represent rock and roll. You can tell this by the way the model is. The model is located in the bottom middle of the page and has a dramatic posture. This content page is more likely to grab the eyes of someone who is into rock and also someone who has lower income to others. The subtitles on this example are much too small. The information underneath the subtitles is too small to understand.

-Questionnaire

I carried out a questionnaire, asking college students about a college magazine that could be created for student use. I discovered that 95% of college students currently do not read the college magazine. This shows a problem as the magazine as a product is not delivering for it's target audience - students. I then asked what and if other features would encourage students to read the college magazine. 90% of students questioned, answered yes, if there were features such as, news, events, information about college, jobs, sport, fashion and xbox releases. Appealing features of a magazine include a bright and colourful appearence and free stuff, such as, vouchers, posters, and stickers etc. As students answered 70% of students are only willing to pay up to an estimated 50p for a college magazine - this shows at a lower price you would probably attract the target audience. 80% of people wouldn't subscribe to the college magazine. However, most students suggest that it is brought put and produced monthly. This may be beacause students have less money, when usual in college, opposed to working adults.

- front cover analysis.

BILLBOARD.

The title used, is colourful and bold. The stereotypes for the colours are mostly boys. However the magazine is aimed towards girls. The model used to someone that the target audience will recognize, someone who makes a good role model. The subtitles used, are plain and only use two colours, in this example, yellow and white. Yellow, is also used as the main object in this example, the ‘M’.  The object ‘M’ has been painted yellow, gold. This is to make the magazine look plain and simple. The subtitle ‘MILEY CYRUS’, is a massive example towards the audience. The reason for this is because the quotation ‘The Queen Of Tween Grows Up. But Will Her Fans Follow?’ this quotation is really describing what the target audience is, for example, younger teenage girls. The background colour on this example music magazine is purple. I believe that the colour purple is a warm welcome colour, and makes you feel relaxed. The model is the magazine is wearing just black. That is showing the audience not to take much notice of her clothing, and to read the magazine itself.
                                                     VIBE.

The colours used, are pink and black. The stereotypes for these colours are for females. However the magazine ‘VIBE’ is mostly aimed towards male. The model used in this example is ‘LIL WAYNE’. Lil Wayne is a famous artist to grab teenager’s attention. So I believe that this model has been placed on this front cover to show that the target audience is teenagers and young adults. The title is very black and bold. The subtitles are also bold, and also black. The two colours are pink and black on the whole cover. The subheading ‘LIL WAYNE’ is written capital letters and also in pink. This is to grab people’s attention. The model in this magazine is also dressed in pink. This is to make the magazine look plain and contrasting. The target audience for this magazine is also aimed towards the lower life generation. The generation which have poor jobs and not enough income. The reason for this is because Lil Wayne’s stereotype is to dress in hoodies and wearing big gold necklaces. In contrast to this people who wear hoodies and big necklaces, usually have the stereotype of a low income person.
